Ah all things good for zombie prep. lol a fellow Marine, good friend of mine and someone I call "Big Brother" said he didn't enjoy the Survival Guide too much do to Brooks bashing of the M16. I can't really blame him for that sentiment. Though I'm sure Brooks feelings on the M16 stems from the rough start the first M16 had. Sides AKs don't have the same versatility and modularity of a good AR. I agree with what he says about the .22LR being good against zombies. Though personally I'd rather not have my entire arsenal rely on .22LR. Sure those little plinksters will be great against zombies and for hunting small animals. But I need firepower for stopping crazed people and big game animals that maybe running around areas they wouldn't normally be in due to a lack of people.
I love all my AR platform weapons. I run into the AR haters, but once you question them, they usually have no personal experience with the weapon system, they are just talking out their ass, repeating something they heard or read somewhere from like 30 years ago LOL. I have a cool little Silenced SBR M&P 15 22lr, I call it my Zombie killer. But if it really did ever happen. There is only one rifle I am grabbing and that is my custom JP with the AAC on, and my Glock 35. and my usual gear and I am locking down the compound and then I will use the many other guns I have as I see fit LOL
I think my opinion on the M16 and AR platform has been ever changing since my early high school years. For a while I thought of the AR platform as crap. But then as time went on and I got hands on experience with the good ol A2. Then versus the traits and cons of the AK series. Well new found love for the AR grew in the last few years that's for sure.
Hell yeah man, it's always easier to defend a position than to take it.
Military M16's are pretty good. But when you start putting in awesome high end parts into an AR-15 or transferable M16, they are really outstanding. Now don’t get me wrong I love my Arsenal SGL 21 and 31 as well as my other Ak's They are fine weapons, and I would not blink at trusting my life with them. But my JP is pretty much part of me, I shoot it at least 3 times a week most of the time more than that, and you tend to have a serious love affair with something you spend so much time with
But my Scar goes to the range every time my JP does, so I am pretty fond of it as well, but that’s a different beast and a different use
Yeah lol every time I hold my issued A4 I always imagine what kind of attachments I can throw onto it. Yeah man, a rifle that can survive god knows how much dirt, muck and other crap...that trait can only go so far if things like shot placement is gonna be a pain in the ass.
I have some pretty nice AK's and they actually shoot very well. But I also own some pure basic battle AK's and while they are not sniper rifles in any way, they do get the job done. But the AR platform is well known for its superior accuracy, and I have yet to see an AK that shoots as good, or is as user friendly!
My JP has a side charger, so does my Scar, but they are easy due to being on the left side. I am pretty use to AK's I just turn the gun sideways and charge it with my left hand.
Beware of the AK bro, Once you shoot one, you will want one! And if you shoot a AK74 you will want one ever worse LOL. When it comes to getting the most out your money for an AK, there is only one name need to know Arsenal INC, the only way to get a real Russian AK in the USA.
I collect and own so many 1911's. There are some really awesome guns out there, like Kimber Knighthawk, Wilson of course, and etc etc. I like the older Colt 1911's, or the New ones that they are making now. They didn’t make such great ones in the 80's and 90's. But now the company is owned and run by awesome people again, so they are making great stuff once again.
S&W made some nice guns in the 80's, But for the most part the 80's were kind of a transition period for modern firearms. There are so nice WW2 1911's out there, but there are also a lot of fakes as well. You need to really know your proof marks and period correct parts recognition. But if your looking for a WW2 style gun, there is always Springfield, they make a very nice “GI” 1911. if you want a beautiful early 1911, the pre war guns are outstanding, beautiful fit and finish, but be prepared to pay for them
